Kenny Johnson, Founder
Kenny Johnson, MBA, MS, is the founder of Sunbeam 369. With a distinguished background as a former military officer and Afghanistan Veteran, Kenny's military accolades include numerous commendations for leadership and service to include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Army Commendation Medal with Valor.
He is a proud graduate of West Point, where he developed his foundational leadership skills. Kenny also holds an MBA and a Master of Science in Environmental Justice from the University of Michigan, further honing his business acumen and commitment to sustainability and social equity. His professional journey includes time in the agriculture sector where he was a certified crop adviser. During this time, he was a product manager of a nine-figure business and a strategy consultant at Ernst & Young and founded a venture-backed AgTech startup. He later transitioned to the death care sector, where he worked at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.

Emily Miller, Green Burial Lead
Emily B. Miller comes to Sunbeam with a range of experience in the funeral and cemetery space, from traditional service to alternative start-ups. From her first role at the reception desk at a cemetery, Emily has been passionate about improving the consumer’s experience of going through the funeral process. She became a licensed funeral director and embalmer and has won three awards in funeral service. She has worked in both large and small funeral homes and as the General Manager of a regional funeral home group. Emily also received certification as a Life-Cycle Celebrant, specializing in personalized secular ceremonies for funerals and other milestones.
Emily founded the Colorado Burial Preserve & Cremation Garden, the state’s first ecological cemetery. As a green burial entrepreneur, she has continued her involvement in the funeral industry in support of the sustainable funeral movement. She believes that natural burials are both better for the planet, and also better at offering the themes and rituals that meaningfully enhance guests’ experience of the funeral. Emily volunteers for the Green Burial Council and teaches green burial practices at Mortuary Colleges, webinars, and industry conferences. She has taught at ICCFA, SXSW, and competed on Season 12 of acclaimed business show The Blox.

Mike Henshaw, Head of Veteran Relations
Michael Henshaw brings decades of leadership in veteran cemetery management, mortuary affairs, and military operations to Sunbeam 369. His expertise in honoring and supporting veterans stems from his role as Director of Virginia’s three state veterans’ cemeteries and his extensive experience in the National Cemetery Administration, where he led multiple national cemeteries nationwide.
Before transitioning to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Mike served 25 years in the U.S. Army, specializing in mortuary affairs and POW/MIA recovery missions. He deployed worldwide, leading search and recovery operations to locate and repatriate missing service members from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. His work extended beyond military operations, as he assisted in disaster response efforts, including leading forensic recovery teams in the aftermath of the 2004 South Asia Tsunami and the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
Mike’s leadership also includes roles as a military advisor in Iraq, an emergency management officer for the U.S. Navy in Italy, and an operations officer at the Joint Mortuary Affairs Center. He is a highly decorated veteran, awarded two Bronze Star Medals and numerous commendations for his service in combat and humanitarian missions.

Tam Tran, Internal Coach
Tam Tran is an Executive Business Coach who has worked with hundreds of clients across multiple industries and has created measurable impact on the business owners and leadership teams that he has coached. His coaching approach, aligned with the International Coaching Federation, emphasizes partnership, clarity, and action, helping clients overcome obstacles and achieve their best.
He comes with a wide breadth and depth of leadership experience from his military service as an officer in the US Army, his time in the oil and gas industry, and as a small business owner. As an engineering and operations leader in oil and gas he’s headed business units with P&Ls of up to $27 million and teams of up to 50 employees and contractors. Tam is also an entrepreneur, founding two successful e-commerce businesses, including one ranked in the top 1% by sales on Etsy.com.
Tam holds an MBA in Finance from UCLA Anderson, a Master of Arts in Leadership Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a Mechanical Engineering degree from West Point. He was certified by as a coach at UC Berkeley’s Executive Coaching Institute.
